Lectors & Commentators - Confirmed parishioners who communicate God's word by proclaiming the readings with clarity and enthusiasm. Assignments are scheduled on a rotating basis. Training is offered.
Eucharistic Minister - Confirmed parishioners who assist in distributing Holy Communion at Masses on a rotating basis. Training is provided.
Ministers to the Homebound - Eucharistic Ministers who bring communion to the homebound and those in nursing homes or senior residences on a rotating basis. Training is provided.
Altar Servers - Families and children grade 3 and up to assist the priest at weekend Masses. Scheduled on a rotating basis. Training is provided.
Funeral Altar Servers - Adults who assist the Priest at Funerals. Training is provided.
Hospitality & Service Ministries
Hospitality Greeters - Welcome parishioners and guests at the entrances of our church and welcome desk at weekend Masses and are scheduled on a rotating basis. Training is provided.
Hospitality Ushers - Parishioners Confirmation age and up to provide hospitality and assistance throughout the Eucharist. Training provided.
Hospitality Baptism - Set up for baptisms and greet families as they enter the church. A commitment of 1.5 hours every 3rd Sunday of the month as needed. Setup will be at 12:30pm followed by the Baptism at 1pm.
Café Ministry - Help prepare coffee and connect with guests in the Café.
Medical Response Team (MRT)(Good Shepherd) - Seeking medical professionals and first responders (nurses, physicians, first responders, etc.) who are certified with basic life support/CPR. This ministry’s mission is to provide leadership during health care emergencies at weekend Masses.
Children & Youth Ministry
Children's Church - (volunteers aged 13+ to adult)
Little Lambs (Ages 1-3) - To assist in the care of some of our smallest parishioners during mass. Rotating groups Approx.1 hour a month commitment.
The Flock (Ages 3-7) - Lessons in small groups geared to Sunday Liturgy as well as games, crafts, stories, and songs. Rotating groups Approx.1.5 hour a month commitment.
Shepherd’s Kids (Ages 7-10) - Lessons in small groups geared to Sunday Liturgy as well as games, stories, and songs. Children in this group will return to mass at the time of offertory. Rotating groups Approx. 1.5 hour a month commitment.
Jr Youth Group (Grades 2-6) - Help with various events and programs that we will have throughout the year. Commitment as needed.
High School Ministry - Assist in a team setting to plan, implement and facilitate events for high school students. Training provided. Volunteers who have finished high school are welcome!
Young Adult Ministry
Young Adult Ministry - Participate in a team setting to plan, implement and facilitate young adult ministry meetings off-site. Training Provided. Volunteers aged 18 – 30 are welcome! Once a month commitment.
Sacramental Preparation
Baptism Catechist - Working as a team to prepare families for Baptism. Commitment once a month for an hour, training provided.
First Communion/Reconciliation - Together with a team of volunteers, providing a first confession and first communion mini retreat as well assisting with the celebrations of first confessions and first communions.
RCIA Sponsor - To journey with candidates, share their faith and attend weekly classes.
Adult Faith Formation
SycamOre - Together with a Team, assist with leading discussion for In Person settings in our Fall & Winter series. Materials and Training provided. Commitment: 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months) plus a Retreat Day.
Discovering Catholicism - Together with a Team, assist with leading discussion for In Person settings in our Fall & Winter series. Materials and Training provided. Commitment: 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months) plus a Retreat Day.
Connect Group - Facilitate discussion in small connect groups during Fall, Advent, Winter and/or Lent. In Person & Zoom options. Topics, materials, and training provided.
Hall & Ministry Support
Food & Beverage Team - Individuals to help set up finger food and refreshments for our Alpha and Discovering Catholicism sessions. Training Provided.
Take Down & Set Up Team - Do you have some muscle to spare? We are looking for volunteers to help our Set Up & Take Down team with meeting and event preparation at Good Shepherd parish. This includes physical activities such has lifting and stacking tables and chairs, sweeping floors, removing garbage, and tidying washrooms. Click here for more information and to sign up!
Outreach
Outreach - Individuals to help provide support to local outreach programs and global social justice initiatives.
Office
Collection Counters - Assist with counting of collection as per schedule. Training provided.
Music Ministry
Good Shepherd 8:30 & 11:15 Masses Parishioners are invited to serve God and His people by leading the congregation in sung prayer. This Ministry meets for practice the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 7 pm, and a half hour before Masses for warm up. Musical and Liturgical knowledge will be provided for singers.
