Development and Peace
Around the world, people who defend the environment, water and land are often threatened, criminalized, imprisoned or even killed. Honduras is no exception and is one of the five most dangerous countries in the world in this respect.
The communities of Guapinol and the San Pedro sector in northern Honduras are well aware of this. Their lives have been turned upside down ever since an iron ore mine opened in Carlos Escaleras National Park.

Development and Peace — Caritas Canada (The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace), a democratic movement for international solidarity, supports partners in the Global South in the pursuit of alternatives to unjust social, political and economic structures.

Development and Peace — Caritas Canada, the official development organization of the Canadian Catholic Church, is inspired by the values of the Gospel, particularly the preferential option for the poor.
In the Ukraine, they have been supporting displaced families, by providing: Field kitchens to provide food, receiving people at train stations and other locations for displaced families in transit. providing them with food, water, hygiene items and psychosocial support, transportation and providing evacuation centers.
