Our Set Up & Take Down team at Good Shepherd parish is seeking volunteers to assist with preparing the meeting rooms and the hall for events from Fridays to Mondays.
Please note: these tasks require physical work (eg. lifting, stacking, carrying, etc.), so please consider this before signing up, as you must be physically able to do all of the responsibilities listed.
Responsibilities include:
set up/take down/wipe down tables and chairs as required for events, meetings, and the cafe
positioning rolling cart televisions and cafe carts, as needed
sweep and mop floors
tidy and refresh bathrooms, as needed
take garbage to the bin outside the building
operate the moveable walls in the large hall to create separate meetings spaces, as needed
security in terms of kitchen appliances turned off, lights off, and doors locked
Days and times of the week availability is potentially required (not necessarily every day, every week):
Friday mornings and/or afternoons
Saturday mornings and/or afternoons
Sunday afternoons and/or evenings
Monday mornings and/or afternoons
A schedule of events and meetings will be provided in advance so that you can book your availability accordingly. The number of days that volunteers are required to assist on any given weekend will depend on the events planned for that particular weekend; you will not always be required every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The amount of time required will depend on the set up required. You can expect a range of one to three hours on any given day.
There are specific set up requirements for recurring meetings and events (eg. Holy Grounds Cafe, children’s church, etc.); training will be provided. You will work with a team of two to three people. Anyone from our family of parishes is welcome to sign up.
Once you have registered, you will be contacted for training and to discuss your availability.
Thank you so much for sharing your gifts with our parish community!
